Welcome to the NMLQOTM. Located here you will find links to the official rules, an alphabetical listing of all songs that have been previously used, and an archive of all past quizzes, answers and commentary. Below is the current quiz.

Here they are - the 25 songs that make up NMLQOTM #15. Once again, I've challenged you
to identify each song from a lyrical snippet - and as always, I've offered just a little assistance
by ordering the songs alphabetically by the performing artist. Many songs are released by
multiple performers, but only artists that fit the alphabetical rule are considered correct for
scoring purposes. Remember - I'm a stickler for exact titles and artist names.
All songs in this quiz were released between 1956 and 1996. Good luck!

There is a definite theme lurking amidst the songs - keep a sharp eye out. Not only will it help
you identify these tunes, but I also use identification of the theme as the ultimate tiebreaker.
Be sure to mention in your entry if you have found it.

We haven't had anyone new join in for a while - maybe it's time to introduce someone you know
to the quiz. Let me know if there is someone you think might enjoy participating.

If you are new to the NMLQOTM - or even if you've played a while now - it's always helpful to
review the official
rules. Note that precision counts when it comes to scoring the submissions
- be sure to give the exact song title and the exact artist attribution for each song;
dot your "i"s and cross your "t"s! Watch your p's, q's, commas and "the"s!

The submission deadline for this quiz will be Friday, May 20th at 11:59 pm (eastern).

He went away and you hung around
And bothered me every night
And when I wouldn't go out with you
You said things that weren't very nice

Say my name
Sun shines through the rain
A whole life so lonely
And then you come and ease the pain

In sixty-five I was seventeen
And running up one-oh-one

Round the squares
Huddled in storms
Some laughing
Some just shapeless forms

I hope she´s doin´ all right
I got no way to know
Unless she gets to hear this song
Hear it on the radio

You can almost taste the hot dogs and french fries that they sell

She was married when we first met
Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam i guess
But I used a little too much force

So no one's answering
Well can't you just let it ring a little longer
Longer longer

Well I know (I know)
That I love him so
I'm afraid that he'll never know
Because I (I-I)
I get so timid and shy
Each time that I look him in the eye

No more speed I'm almost there
Gotta keep cool now
Gotta take care

I'm in love with a girl I'm talking about
I'm in love with a girl I can't live without
I'm in love but I feel like I'm wearing it out

So we took the half a ton of garbage
Put it in the back of a red VW microbus
Took shovels and rakes and implements of destruction
And headed on toward the city dump

She said I'm sorry pretty baby
You know my love is just for you
She said I'm sorry pretty baby
You know my love is just for you

But now it all looks strange
It's funny how one insect
Can damage so much grain

Busted flat in Baton Rouge
Waitin' for a train

Follow me up to San Francisco
I will be guiding your way
I'll be the Count of Monte Cristo
You'll be the Countess May

Do it nice and easy now
Don't lose control
A little bit of rhythym
And a lot of soul

Left school with a first class pass
Started work but as second class
School taught one and one is two
But right now
That answer just ain't true

Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow white turtledoves

So save your prayers for when we're really gonna need 'em
Throw out your cares and fly
Wanna go for a ride?

Every time I kiss your lips
My mind starts to wander
And if all my dreams come true
I'll be spending time with you

He wore a big ol' turban wrapped around his head
And a scimitar by his side
And, every evenin' about midnight
He'd jump on his camel named Clyde and ride

Some nights
I wake up
I look at your pillow
Hoping that I'll see you there

And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothing seems to fit

That big wheel spins
The hair thins
People forget
Forget they're hiding
