Quiz #12

Live, it's NMLQOTM #12!

Listed below are 25 new challenges to your name-that-tune skill. As always, I've helped you along by ordering the lyrics alphabetically by their respective artists.

All 25 of these songs are new to the NMLQOTM - one of our rules stipulates that the same recording will not reappear for at least 20 consecutive quizzes. You can find an alphabetical list of all previously used recordings in the
Song Library.

There is a common theme underlying all 25 songs in this quiz. If the outcome of this quiz were to end in a tie, players who identified the theme would be ranked ahead of any others who did not. Happy hunting.

If you are new to the NMLQOTM - or even if you've played a while now - it's always helpful to review the official rules. Note that precision counts when it comes to scoring the submissions - be sure to give the exact song title and the exact artist attribution for each song; dot your "i"s and cross your "t"s! Watch your p's, q's, commas and "the"s!

The submission deadline for this quiz will be Friday, April 7th at 11:59 pm (eastern).

Answers, Results & Commentary for Quiz #12

One part woman
The other part girl
To perfume and makeup
From ribbons and curls

Down this wild street walks
Walks a child with no trace
Of ever being as young as her sister is

Starting soft and slow
Like a small earthquake
And when he lets go
Half the valley shakes

We stood on a beach at sunset
Do you remember when
I know a beach where, baby
It never ends

I wanna know if she loved me
Did she really love me?
Was she just playing me for a fool?

Johnny kissed the teacher
He tiptoed up to reach her
Well he’s the teacher’s pet now

Every day the sun comes up around her
She can make the birds sing harmony
Every drop of rain is glad it found her
Heaven must have made her just for me

One can take a walk in the moonlight
Thinkin' that it's really nice
But two walkin' hand-in-hand
Is like addin' just a pinch of spice

We're getting older
The world's getting colder
For the life of me
I don't know the reason why

So I'm thinkin' about forgiveness
Even if
Even if
You don't love me anymore

Ooo what a feeling thereīll be
The moment I know she loves me
'Cause when I look in her eyes I realize
I need her sharing the world beside me

Come to me when things go wrong
Cling to me Daddy
Oh yeah
And I'll be strong

You canīt go the distance
With too much resistance
I know you have doubts
But for Godīs sake
Donīt shut me out

I need to laugh and when the sun is out
I got something I can laugh about
I feel good in a special way
I'm in love and it's a sunny day

If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me

And we make up
Just to break up
I'll carry on
Oh yes I will

I'll get over you
It won't take long
I've stood in your gallery
Seen what's hangin' from the wall

See that train over there
Thatīs the train of freedom
Itīs about to arrive any minute now

"Got no time" is what youīre known to say
Iīll make you wish there were 48 hours to each day

Take me to the magic of the moment on a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away

I love you
Though the stars may fade
And mountains turn into sand
I love you
'Till my body changes
Into an old man

Welcome one another
Headed for the corner
Welcome one another
Headed for the corner

Well, now, it takes more than a robin
To make the winter go
And it takes two lips of fire
To melt away the snow

These are the eyes
That never knew how to smile
'Till you came into my life
And these are the arms
That long to lock you inside
Every day and every night

It could have been a finer thing
Would have been a major attraction
With no other thing
Offering a note of distraction
